Oh boy, this one is old.
This is a little game I made back in the winter of 2002. Back then, I was still a filthy computer science major. Now, of course, I am a filthy art major, but I don't have anything Christmas related to post today, nor do I feel like working on my day off.
Anyways, Rudolf the Red Nosed Pinto!
It's a little unfinished game there you shoot different colored presents at flying saucers while dodging hails of anti-Ford-Pinto ordinance.
Hit the play button and watch the tutorial for instructions. Have fun! And no, the first level doesn’t end, nor can you be killed.
Some part of me is really surprised the code still compiles.
Good Ikaruga spin-off. One problem might be that it requires a bit too much dexterity for the average person, especially if you're planning to add a life bar later. I might suggest if you plan on still having 4 different shooting modes that you make some part of the car change color when you press space bar, that way if the car is half way across the screen you can still see what color you are shooting without your eyes straying from the action. Also, I might make the boxes on the side-bar completely the color that they represent rather than having the complimentary color ribbons, only because the blue and orange boxes get confusing at a glance. And also on the issue of readability, the things you have to shoot at should have the color more predominant that the grey part of the graphic. It's a fast paced game to begin with, and it seems like a needless hindrance to have to do a double-take at some of the graphics. I was thinking it might be nice to change the key to switch boxes to mouse button 2, but I guess a lot of mac users would get left out with those one-button wonder mouses. I guess improving the playability of this game is a matter of tweaking the difficulty level and the amount of effort it takes just to navigate never mind beat the enemies. I think it would kill two birds with one stone just to eliminate the orange box all-together. That would eliminate some of the insane difficulty, as well as the cycle through time on the boxes, as well as the complimentary color mix-up.
I really like the background and the graphics over all are well done.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

One's path to salvation does not lie in someone else. One must find their own path and work hard and diligently to attain it.
